On the map, tap + and drag the map until the pin sits on the bench. Then tell it which way the bench faces: stand behind it, point the phone the way it looks and tap Lock — or pick a direction by hand. Add a photo of the view, a name and its vibes, and tap Save.

Without an account the bench stays on your phone. Sign in (in Settings) and it’s on everyone’s map.

Photos here show benches and the view from them, and your iPhone checks each one before it’s added. A photo is turned down when a person is the main thing in it (people next to the bench are fine), when it has a QR code or a barcode, when it’s mostly text, a link or a phone number, or when it’s a screenshot or a document.

Pick a shot where the bench or the view comes first.

Not to look around: the map, the sun, vibes, check-ins and saved benches all work without one. To publish benches, reviews and photos for other people, sign in with Apple or Google in Settings.

Turn it on in Settings → Notifications. Bench Spotter reminds you 30 minutes before the light you chase, with the number of benches that face it — one quiet nudge at a time, never more than one a day.

For every bench it works out where the sun is at that exact spot — sunrise, golden hour, sunset — and compares it with the way the bench faces. A cloud forecast for that hour tells you whether the sky will play along. The sun itself is worked out on the phone, so that part works offline too.

Tap ⋯ on the bench, the review or the spotter’s profile and choose Report. A person reads every report within a day, and nothing is sent to the author. What breaks the rules is removed.

Open their profile, or the ⋯ menu on their bench or review, and choose Block. Their benches and reviews disappear for you right away. To undo it: Settings → Blocked → Unblock.

Open your bench: Edit bench and Delete this bench are at the bottom of its page. To remove your review, open it from the bench and tap Delete review. Whatever you delete disappears for everyone.

Settings → Delete account. It closes your account for good: your reviews are removed and the benches you added stay on the map without your name. The phone forgets your name, photo and account.
